Alice Ping Yee Ho 何水頤

Alice Ping Yee Ho 何水頤 is a distinguished Chinese Canadian composer celebrated for her innovative, expressive, and genre-spanning body of work. Bridging Eastern and Western influences, her music encompasses opera, orchestral, chamber, dance, theatre, and electroacoustic forms with remarkable originality and emotional depth.

Her many honours include the 2024 Jules Léger Prize for New Chamber Music, the 2022 Symphony Nova Scotia Maria Anna Mozart Award, the Johanna Metcalf Performing Arts Prize, and the Dora Mavor Moore Award for Outstanding Original Opera. Her acclaimed operas include The Lesson of Da Ji, The Monkiest King, and CHINATOWN.

Ho’s music has been performed internationally by leading ensembles including the China National Symphony Orchestra, Shanghai Philharmonic, Luxembourg Sinfonietta, and Finland’s Lapland Chamber Orchestra, as well as major Canadian orchestras. A three-time JUNO nominee, she is widely recognized as one of Canada’s most compelling contemporary voices.
