Rita Euda

Rita Ueda is a Japanese Canadian composer based in Vancouver whose music is celebrated for its poetic sensitivity, introspective depth, and powerful cross-cultural storytelling. Her works invite contemplation and dialogue, often exploring themes of memory, nature, and cultural connection. An internationally acclaimed composer, Ueda is the recipient of the 2022 Jules Léger Prize in New Chamber Music, the 2022 Azrieli Prize in Canadian Music, and the 2014 Penderecki International Composers’ Competition.

Her music has been performed by major orchestras and ensembles around the world, including the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, Budapest MAV Symphony Orchestra, Vienna Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra of St. Luke’s, Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, and the Philharmonia Orchestra. Her works have also been featured at prominent international festivals in Austria, South Korea, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Japan, and Hungary. Her orchestral music is published by Doblinger.
