    Michelle Lafferty is a Tłichó dene opera singer and composer whose warm mezzo rich voice has inspired meaningful collaborations in new Indigenous opera and classical music development.

IndigiDivas is envisioned as a respectful and empowering showcase of female-identifying Indigenous singers, seamlessly weaving together Indigenous traditions and cultures with the operatic and orchestral world. Indigenous-led and realized in collaboration with the Allegra Chamber Orchestra, this show will feature operatic and orchestral works by Indigenous and Canadian composers in an imaginative and impactful way that highlights First Nations stories, languages, struggles, and traditions, putting them front and centre on the concert stage. 

Acclaimed singers Melody Courage, Rebecca Cuddy and Michelle Lafferty breathe life into the works of First Nations and Métis composers from across Turtle Island, and unite to combine their unique artistry together in an unforgettable journey through song.

With conductor Janna Sailor, these Indigenous opera singers, along with featured special guest mezzo-soprano Marion Newman, breathe life into the music of First Nations composers from across Turtle Island, alongside fresh interpretations of opera’s greatest hits.

This performance is presented in partnership with One Yellow Rabbit as part of the High Performance Rodeo.
